Musnad Ahmad 1156:41

Abu Usamah narrated to us, he said: Hisham—meaning Ibn Urwah—informed us, from Awf ibn al-Harith ibn al-Tufayl, from Rumaythah, the mother of Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Atiq, from Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said: My companions spoke to me to speak to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that he should command the people to send gifts to him wherever he was, for they seek to send their gifts on the day of Aisha, and we love goodness just as Aisha loves it. So I said: "O Messenger of Allah, my companions have spoken to me to speak to you so that you command the people to send gifts to you wherever you are, for the people seek to send their gifts on the day of Aisha, and we love goodness just as Aisha loves it." She said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, remained silent and did not reply to me. My companions came to me, and I informed them that he did not speak to me. They said: "Do not leave him, and do not let this be the time you leave him." She said: Then he turned, and I spoke to him, and I said: "My companions have ordered me to speak to you that you command the people to send gifts to you wherever you are." She said to him the same statement twice or three times. Each time, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, remained silent regarding her. Then he said: "O Umm Salamah, do not hurt me regarding Aisha, for by Allah, the revelation has not descended upon me while I was in the house of any of my wives other than Aisha." I said: "I seek refuge in Allah from causing you distress regarding Aisha."
