Musnad Ahmad 287:7

Sulayman ibn Harb and ‘Affan narrated to us, they said: Wuhayb ibn Khalid narrated to us. ‘Affan said in his narration: He said: Ayyub narrated to us, from ‘Abdullah ibn Abi Mulaykah, from ‘Uqbah ibn al-Harith: "That the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was brought Nu‘ayman — or the son of Nu‘ayman — while he was intoxicated. He said: So it was severe upon the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he ordered those who were in the house to strike him, so they struck him." ‘Affan said in his narration: "And it weighed heavily upon the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, a severe heaviness." ‘Uqbah said: "So I was among those who struck him."
