Musnad Ahmad 482:160

Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Ibn ‘Ayyash narrated to us, from Usayd ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Khath‘ami, from Farwah ibn Mujahid al-Lakhmi, from ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir, who said: I met the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and he said to me: "O ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir, join the one who cuts you off, give to the one who deprives you, and pardon the one who wrongs you." He said: Then I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and he said to me: "O ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir, control your tongue, weep over your sin, and let your house suffice you." He said: Then I met the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and he said to me: "O ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir, shall I not teach you surahs the likes of which were not revealed in the Torah, nor in the Zabur, nor in the Injil, nor in the Furqan? No night shall come upon you except that you recite them in it: 'Say, He is Allah, [who is] One,' 'Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak,' and 'Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind.'" ‘Uqbah said: "No night came upon me except that I recited them in it, and it is right for me not to abandon them, for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded me to do so." And Farwah ibn Mujahid, when he would narrate this hadith, would say: "Beware, for how many a person is there who does not control his tongue, or does not weep over his sin, or whose house does not suffice him."
