Hadith of Uqbah ibn Amir al-Juhani (RA) from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 482:45

Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid ibn Jabir, from Abu Salam, from Khalid ibn Zayd al-Ansari, who said: I was with 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir al-Juhani, and he was a man who loved archery. Whenever he went out, he would take me out with him. One day he called me, and I was slow to come to him. He said: "Come, I will tell you what the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me and what he narrated to me. I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: 'Indeed, Allah admits three people into Paradise for one arrow: the maker of it who seeks reward in his craftsmanship for good, the one who shoots it, and the one who hands it to him.'" And he said: "Shoot and ride, and that you shoot is more beloved to me than that you ride." "And there is no amusement except in three things: a man training his horse, his playing with his wife, and his shooting with his bow. And whoever abandons archery after having learned it, out of aversion to it, then it is a blessing he has abandoned."
