Musnad Ahmad 482:47

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar informed us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Zayd ibn Salam, from 'Abd Allah ibn Zayd al-Azraq, who said: 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir al-Juhani used to go out and practice archery every day, and he would have someone follow him. It seemed as though he [the follower] was becoming weary, so he ['Uqbah] said: "Shall I not tell you what I heard from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)?" He said: "Yes." He said: "I heard him say: 'Indeed, Allah admits three people into Paradise for a single arrow: the one who makes it, seeking reward from Allah in his craft; the one who provides it in the way of Allah; and the one who shoots it in the way of Allah.'" And he said: "Practice archery and ride, and that you practice archery is better for you than that you ride." And he said: "Everything with which the son of Adam amuses himself is vain, except for three things: his shooting with his bow, his training of his horse, and his playing with his wife, for they are from the truth." He said: "'Uqbah passed away, and he had sixty-something or seventy-something bows, with each bow a quiver and arrows, and he bequeathed them in the way of Allah." 17338- Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Hisham narrated to us, from Yahya, from Abu Salam, from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Azraq, that 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Indeed, Allah admits three people into Paradise for a single arrow," and he mentioned the hadith.
