Musnad Ahmad 482:54

Hajjaj narrated to us, Layth informed us, Yazid ibn Abi Habib narrated to me, from Abu al-Khayr, from Uqbah ibn Amir, that he said: We said to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him: "You send us out, and we descend upon a people who do not host us, so what is your opinion regarding that?" The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to us: "If you descend upon a people, and they provide for you what is appropriate for a guest, then accept it. But if they do not do so, then take from them the right of the guest which is appropriate for them."
