Hadith of Uqbah ibn Amir al-Juhani (RA) from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 482:78

Hashim narrated to us, Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, Shahr ibn Hawshab narrated to us, he said: I heard a man narrating from Uqbah ibn Amir that he heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: "There is no man who dies when he dies, and in his heart is the weight of a mustard seed of pride, for whom it is lawful for Paradise that he should smell its scent or see it." A man from Quraysh, who was called Abu Rayhanah, said: "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I truly love beauty and desire it, to the point that I love it in the lash of my whip and in the strap of my sandal." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "That is not pride. Indeed, Allah the Almighty and Majestic is beautiful and loves beauty. But pride is the rejection of the truth and the belittling of people with one's eyes."
