Hadith of Usamah bin Zayd, the beloved of the Messenger of Allah (SAW)

Hadith 941:30

'Uthman ibn 'Umar narrated to us, Ibn Abi Dhi'b narrated to us, from al-Harith, from Kurayb, the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas, from Usamah ibn Zayd, who said: I entered upon the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he was in a state of distress. I asked him what was the matter with him, and he said: "Gabriel has not come to me for three days." He said: Then there was a puppy of a dog between his houses, so he ordered it to be killed. Then Gabriel, peace be upon him, appeared to him, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, rejoiced toward him when he saw him. He said: "You did not come to me." He replied: "We do not enter a house in which there is a dog or images."
