Musnad Ahmad 529:22

Al-Hakam ibn Nafi’ narrated to us, Isma’il ibn ‘Ayyash narrated to us, from Damdam ibn Zur’ah, from Shurayh ibn ‘Ubayd, who said: ‘Utbah used to say, “’Irbad is better than me.” And ‘Irbad used to say, “’Utbah is better than me; he preceded me to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, by a year.”
