Musnad Ahmad 299:14

Yazid narrated to us, he said: Hammad bin Zayd informed us, he said: Ali bin Zayd narrated to us, from al-Hasan, who said: Uthman bin Abi al-Aas passed by Kilab bin Umayyah while he was sitting at the station of the tax collector in Basra. He said: "What makes you sit here?" He said: "This one appointed me over this place"—meaning Ziyad. Uthman said to him: "Shall I not tell you a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him?" He said: "Yes." Uthman said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: 'Dawud, the Prophet of Allah, peace be upon him, had an hour of the night in which he would wake his family, saying: O family of Dawud, stand and pray, for this is an hour in which Allah answers supplication, except for a sorcerer or a tax collector.'" So Kilab bin Umayyah boarded his ship and went to Ziyad and asked to be relieved of his duty, and he relieved him.
