Musnad Ahmad 572:4

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Ali ibn Zayd, from Abu Nadrah, who said: We came to Uthman ibn Abi al-Aas on a Friday to compare a copy of the Mushaf we had with his Mushaf. When the time for Friday prayer arrived, he commanded us, so we performed ghusl. Then perfume was brought to us, and we perfumed ourselves. Then we came to the mosque and sat next to a man, and he spoke to us about the Dajjal. Then Uthman ibn Abi al-Aas came, so we stood for him and then sat down. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "There will be three cities for the Muslims: a city at the confluence of the two seas, a city in al-Hirah, and a city in al-Sham. The people will be terrified three times, then the Dajjal will emerge in the outskirts of the people, and he will be defeated from the direction of the east. The first city he will reach is the city at the confluence of the two seas. Its people will become three groups: a group that says, 'We will stay and see what he is,' a group that joins the Bedouins, and a group that joins the city next to them. With the Dajjal will be seventy thousand wearing *al-sijan* (cloaks/garments), and the majority of his followers will be Jews and women. Then he will come to the city that follows it, and its people will become three groups: a group that says, 'We will stay and see what he is,' a group that joins the Bedouins, and a group that joins the city next to them in the west of al-Sham. The Muslims will withdraw to the pass of Afiq. They will send out their livestock, but their livestock will be struck down, which will be very hard for them. They will be afflicted by severe famine and intense hardship, to the point that one of them will burn the string of his bow and eat it. While they are in that state, a caller will call out from the dawn: 'O people, relief has come to you,' three times. Some of them will say to others, 'This is the voice of a satiated man.' Then Isa ibn Maryam (Jesus, son of Mary) will descend at the time of the dawn prayer. Their leader will say to him, 'O Spirit of Allah, come forward and lead the prayer.' He will say, 'This nation has leaders over one another.' So their leader will step forward and lead the prayer. When he finishes his prayer, Isa will take his spear and head toward the Dajjal. When the Dajjal sees him, he will melt as lead melts. He will place his spear between his chest muscles and kill him, and his companions will be defeated. On that day, there will be nothing that hides any of them; even the tree will say, 'O believer, this is a disbeliever,' and the stone will say, 'O believer, this is a disbeliever.'"
