Musnad Ahmad 447:5
Hadith of Wathila ibn al-Asqa (RA) "also repeated in the Meccan and Medinan [collections], except for some hadiths which I have established here, while the rest are in the Meccan and Medinan [collections]."
حديث واثلة بن الأسقع " معاد أيضا في المكيين والمدنيين (1) إلا أحاديث منها قد أثبتها هاهنا، وباقيها في المكيين والمدنيين "
Hadith 447:5
Sulayman ibn Dawud Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi narrated to us, he said: Imran al-Qattan informed us, from Qatadah, from Abu al-Malih al-Hudhali, from Wathilah ibn al-Asqa’, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "I was given the Seven [long surahs] in place of the Torah, and I was given the Mi'in [surahs of one hundred verses] in place of the Zabur, and I was given the Mathani in place of the Injil, and I was favored with the Mufassal."
حدثنا سليمان بن داود أبو داود الطيالسي، قال: أخبرنا عمران القطان، عن قتادة، عن أبي المليح الهذلي، عن واثلة بن الأسقع، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " أعطيت مكان التوراة السبع، وأعطيت مكان الزبور المئين، وأعطيت مكان الإنجيل المثاني، وفضلت بالمفصل " . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
