Musnad Ahmad 447:8
Hadith of Wathila ibn al-Asqa (RA) "also repeated in the Meccan and Medinan [collections], except for some hadiths which I have established here, while the rest are in the Meccan and Medinan [collections]."
حديث واثلة بن الأسقع " معاد أيضا في المكيين والمدنيين (1) إلا أحاديث منها قد أثبتها هاهنا، وباقيها في المكيين والمدنيين "
Hadith 447:8
'Arim ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, he said: 'Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Ibrahim ibn Abi 'Ablah, from al-Ghurayf ibn 'Ayyash, from Wathilah ibn al-Asqa', who said: A group from Banu Sulaym came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "A companion of ours has made [the Fire] mandatory [for himself]." He said: "Let him free a slave, so that Allah may ransom every limb of his with a limb of [the slave] from the Fire."
حدثنا عارم بن الفضل، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن المبارك، عن إبراهيم بن أبي عبلة، عن الغريف بن عياش، عن واثلة بن الأسقع، قال: أتى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم نفر من بني سليم فقالوا: إن صاحبا لنا أوجب. قال: " فليعتق رقبة يفدي الله بكل عضو منها عضوا منه من النار "
