Musnad Ahmad 447:9
Hadith of Wathila ibn al-Asqa (RA) "also repeated in the Meccan and Medinan [collections], except for some hadiths which I have established here, while the rest are in the Meccan and Medinan [collections]."
حديث واثلة بن الأسقع " معاد أيضا في المكيين والمدنيين (1) إلا أحاديث منها قد أثبتها هاهنا، وباقيها في المكيين والمدنيين "
Hadith 447:9
Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, he said: al-Awza'i narrated to us, he said: Abu 'Ammar Shaddad narrated to me, from Wathilah ibn al-Asqa', he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Indeed, Allah chose Kinanah from the children of Isma'il, and He chose Quraysh from the children of Kinanah, and He chose the Banu Hashim from Quraysh, and He chose me from the Banu Hashim."
حدثنا أبو المغيرة، قال: حدثنا الأوزاعي، قال: حدثني أبو عمار شداد، عن واثلة بن الأسقع، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " إن الله اصطفى كنانة من بني إسماعيل، واصطفى من بني كنانة قريشا، واصطفى من قريش بني هاشم، واصطفاني من بني هاشم "
