Hadith of Wathila ibn al-Asqa (RA) from the Levantine narrators
Hadith 258:9
Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, he said: Abu Ja’far—meaning al-Razi—narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Malik, he said: Abu Siba’ narrated to us, he said: I bought a she-camel from the house of Wathilah ibn al-Asqa’. When I went out with it, Wathilah caught up with us while he was dragging his garment. He said: "O servant of Allah, did you buy it?" I said: "Yes." He said: "Did he clarify to you what is in it?" I said: "And what is in it?" He said: "It is fat and appears healthy." He said: "So he said: Did you intend a journey with it, or did you intend meat with it?" I said: "Rather, I intended to perform Hajj on it." He said: "For there is a puncture in its hoof." He said: Then its owner said: "May Allah rectify you, what do you want with this? You are ruining the sale for me!" He said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: 'It is not lawful for anyone to sell something without clarifying what is in it, and it is not lawful for one who knows that not to clarify it.'"
