Musnad Ahmad 1256:1

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Sharik ibn Abdullah informed us, from Jami‘ ibn Abi Rashid, from Mundhir al-Thawri, from al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Ali, who said: A woman from the Ansar narrated to me—and she is alive today, if you wish I will take you to her. I said: No. She said: I entered upon Umm Salamah, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered upon her as if he were angry, so I hid behind the edge of my garment. He spoke words that I did not understand. I said: "O Mother of the Believers, it is as if I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) angry." She said: "Yes, did you not hear him?" I said: "And what did he say?" She said: He said: "Indeed, when evil spreads on the earth and they do not forbid it, Allah the Almighty sends His punishment upon the people of the earth." She said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, even if there are righteous people among them?" He said: "Yes, even if there are righteous people among them. What befalls the people will befall them, then Allah the Almighty will take them to His forgiveness and His mercy—or to His mercy and His forgiveness."
