Hadith 586:11
Hajjaj ibn Muhammad narrated to us, he said: Layth—meaning Ibn Sa’d—narrated to us, he said: ‘Uqayl ibn Khalid narrated to me, from Ibn Shihab, from ‘Amr ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Umayyah, that his father informed him that Ya’la said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, with my father, Umayyah, on the day of the Conquest. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, accept the pledge of allegiance from my father for the Hijrah (migration)." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Rather, I will accept his pledge of allegiance for Jihad, for the Hijrah has ceased."
حدثنا حجاج بن محمد، قال: حدثنا ليث يعني ابن سعد، قال: حدثني عقيل بن خالد، عن ابن شهاب، عن عمرو بن عبد الرحمن بن أمية، أن أباه، أخبره أن يعلى، قال: جئت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وأبي أمية يوم الفتح، فقلت: يا رسول الله بايع أبي على الهجرة، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " بل أبايعه على الجهاد فقد انقطعت الهجرة "
