Hadith 586:13
Abu ‘Asim narrated to us, he said: ‘Abdullah ibn Umayyah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Huyayy narrated to me, he said: Safwan ibn Ya’la narrated to me, from his father, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "The sea is Hell." They said to Ya’la, and he said: "Do you not see that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: {A fire whose walls will encompass them} [Al-Kahf: 29]?" He said: "No, by the One in Whose hand is the soul of Ya’la, I will never enter it until I am presented to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and not a single drop of it will touch me until I meet Allah, the Mighty and Majestic."
حدثنا أبو عاصم، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن أمية، قال: حدثني محمد بن حيي، قال: حدثني صفوان بن يعلى، عن أبيه، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " البحر هو جهنم " قالوا ليعلى، فقال: ألا ترون أن الله عز وجل يقول: {نارا أحاط بهم سرادقها} [الكهف: 29] قال: " لا، والذي نفس يعلى بيده، لا أدخلها أبدا حتى أعرض على الله عز وجل، ولا يصيبني منها قطرة حتى ألقى الله عز وجل "
