Hadith 433:9
Husayn ibn Ali al-Ju'fi narrated to us, from Za'idah, from 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr, who said: 'Umar ibn al-Khattab appointed Abu 'Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah over al-Sham and dismissed Khalid ibn al-Walid. Khalid ibn al-Walid said: "The trustee of this nation has been sent over you. I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: 'The trustee of this nation is Abu 'Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah.'" Abu 'Ubaydah said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: 'Khalid is a sword from the swords of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, and what an excellent youth of the clan he is.'"
حدثنا حسين بن علي الجعفي، عن زائدة، عن عبد الملك بن عمير ، قال: استعمل عمر بن الخطاب، أبا عبيدة بن الجراح، على الشام، وعزل خالد بن الوليد، قال: فقال خالد بن الوليد: بعث عليكم أمين هذه الأمة، سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " أمين هذه الأمة أبو عبيدة بن الجراح " قال أبو عبيدة: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " خالد سيف من سيوف الله عز وجل، ونعم فتى العشيرة "
