Hadith of Yusuf ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Salam (RA)

حديث يوسف بن عبد الله بن سلام

Hadith 317:0

Yusuf ibn Abdullah ibn Salam reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) named me Yusuf. He seated me in his lap and wiped my head. He said: I saw in a dream that I was in a garden, and there was a pillar in the middle of the garden, and at the top of the pillar was a handle. It was said to me: "Ascend." I said: "I cannot." Then a servant came and lifted my garment from behind, so I ascended until I reached the top. I took hold of the handle, and it was said to me: "Hold fast." Then I woke up, and the handle was still in my hand. I mentioned this to the Prophet (ﷺ), and he said: "As for the garden, it is Islam. As for the pillar, it is the pillar of Islam. As for the handle, it is the firmest handhold. You will remain upon Islam until you die."
