Hadith 771:40
Husayn ibn Muhammad and Abu Nu‘aym—the meaning being the same—said: Fitr narrated to us, from Abu al-Tufayl, who said: ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) gathered the people in the Rahbah, then said to them: “I adjure by Allah every Muslim man who heard what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said on the day of Ghadir Khumm, to stand up.” Thirty people stood up. Abu Nu‘aym said: Many people stood up and testified that when he took his hand, he said to the people: “Do you know that I have more authority over the believers than they have over themselves?” They said: “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.” He said: “Whoever I am his master (mawla), then this is his master. O Allah, befriend whoever befriends him, and be hostile to whoever is hostile to him.” He said: So I left, and it was as if there was something in my soul. I met Zayd ibn Arqam and said to him: “I heard ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) say such and such.” He said: “So what do you deny? I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say that to him.”
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
