Hadith 771:48
'Affan narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, Habib ibn Abi Thabit informed me, he said: I heard Abu al-Minhal, he said: I asked al-Bara' ibn 'Azib and Zayd ibn Arqam about currency exchange (al-sarf). So this one says: "Ask this one, for he is better than me and more knowledgeable," and this one says: "Ask this one, for he is better than me and more knowledgeable." He said: So I asked them both, and both of them said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade the selling of silver for gold on credit." And I asked this one, and he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade the selling of silver for gold on credit."
حدثنا عفان، حدثنا شعبة، أخبرني حبيب بن أبي ثابت، قال: سمعت أبا المنهال، قال: سألت البراء بن عازب وزيد بن أرقم، عن الصرف، فهذا يقول: سل هذا، فإنه خير مني وأعلم ، وهذا يقول: سل هذا، فهو خير مني وأعلم، قال: فسألتهما فكلاهما يقول: " نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن بيع الورق بالذهب دينا "، وسألت هذا فقال: " نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن بيع الورق بالذهب دينا "
