Hadith of Zayd ibn Arqam (RA)

Hadith 771:66

Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Maymun Abu 'Abd Allah, who said: I was with Zayd ibn Arqam, and a man came from the far end of the tent. He asked him about this, and he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Am I not more worthy of the believers than their own selves?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Whoever I am his master (mawla), then 'Ali is his master (mawla)." Maymun said: Some of the people narrated to me, from Zayd, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Allah, befriend whoever befriends him, and be hostile to whoever is hostile to him."
