Hadith 771:71
Yahya ibn Adam and Yahya ibn Abi Bukayr narrated to us, they said: Isra'il narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, he said: I heard Zayd ibn Arqam say—Ibn Abi Bukayr said: from Zayd ibn Arqam—he said: I went out with my uncle on a military expedition, and I heard Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul saying to his companions: "Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allah, and if we return to Medina, the more honorable among us will surely drive out the meaner." I mentioned that to my uncle, and my uncle mentioned it to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent for me, and I told him. Then he sent for Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul and his companions, and they swore that they did not say it. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) disbelieved me and believed him. I was struck by a grief the likes of which had never struck me before, and I sat in my house. My uncle said: "What did you intend by having the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) disbelieve you and despise you?" He said: Until Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) revealed: "When the hypocrites come to you..." [Al-Munafiqun: 1]. He said: So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent for me and recited it, then said: "Indeed, Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) has confirmed you as truthful."
حدثنا يحيى بن آدم، ويحيى بن أبي بكير، قالا: حدثنا إسرائيل، عن أبي إسحاق، قال: سمعت زيد بن أرقم، قال: ابن أبي بكير، عن زيد بن أرقم قال: خرجت مع عمي في غزاة، فسمعت عبد الله بن أبي ابن سلول يقول لأصحابه: لا تنفقوا على من عند رسول الله، ولئن رجعنا إلى المدينة ليخرجن الأعز منها الأذل، فذكرت ذلك لعمي، فذكره عمي لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فأرسل إلي النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فحدثته، فأرسل إلى عبد الله بن أبي ابن سلول وأصحابه، فحلفوا ما قالوا: فكذبني رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وصدقه، فأصابني هم لم يصيبني مثله قط، وجلست في البيت، فقال عمي: ما أردت إلى أن كذبك النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ومقتك قال: حتى أنزل الله عز وجل: {إذا جاءك المنافقون} [المنافقون: 1] قال: فبعث إلي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقرأها ثم قال: " إن الله عز وجل قد صدقك "
