Hadith 771:82
Surayj ibn al-Nu‘man narrated to us, Hushaym narrated to us, al-Ajlah informed us, from al-Sha‘bi, from Abu al-Khalil, from Zayd ibn Arqam, that ‘Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, was brought three men when he was in Yemen who had shared a child. He cast lots between them, and the one upon whom the lot fell became liable for two-thirds of the blood money, and he assigned the child to him. Zayd ibn Arqam said: So I came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and informed him of ‘Ali’s judgment, "and he laughed until his molars appeared."
حدثنا سريج بن النعمان، حدثنا هشيم، أخبرنا الأجلح، عن الشعبي، عن أبي الخليل، عن زيد بن أرقم، أن عليا رضي الله عنه أتي في ثلاثة نفر، إذ كان باليمن اشتركوا في ولد، فأقرع بينهم، فضمن الذي أصابته القرعة ثلثي الدية، وجعل الولد له، قال زيد بن أرقم: فأتيت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فأخبرته بقضاء علي، " فضحك حتى بدت نواجذه "
