Musnad Ahmad 939:7

Yazid narrated to us, from Abd al-Aziz ibn Abd Allah ibn Abi Salamah, Salih ibn Kaysan and Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, they said: Abd al-Aziz ibn Abd Allah ibn Abi Salamah narrated to us, from Salih ibn Kaysan, from Ubayd Allah ibn Abd Allah ibn Utbah, from Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not revile the rooster, for it calls to prayer." Abu al-Nadr said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade reviling the rooster and said: "It gives the adhan for prayer." I read to Abd al-Rahman: Malik, from Abd Allah ibn Abi Bakr, that Abd Allah ibn Qays informed him, from Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani, that he said: "I will certainly watch the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) tonight." So I rested my head against his threshold or his tent. "He prayed two light rak'ahs, then he prayed two long rak'ahs, then he prayed two rak'ahs which were shorter than the two before them, then he prayed two rak'ahs shorter than the two before them, then he prayed two rak'ahs shorter than the two before them, then he prayed two rak'ahs shorter than the two before them, then he performed witr; that is thirteen." Abd Allah said: And Mus'ab narrated to us, Malik narrated to me, from Abd Allah ibn Abi Bakr, from his father, that Abd Allah ibn Qays ibn Makhramah informed him, from Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani, and he mentioned the hadith. "Abd al-Rahman did not mention 'from his father' in the hadith of Malik, and the correct version is what Mus'ab narrated: 'from his father'." And likewise, Abu Musa al-Ansari narrated to us, Ma'n narrated to us, Malik narrated to us, from Abd Allah ibn Abi Bakr, from his father, that Abd Allah ibn Qays ibn Makhramah informed him, from Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani. "And the correct version is what Mus'ab and Ma'n said: 'from his father', and Abd al-Rahman did not mention 'from his father' in it; he was mistaken in that."
