Hadith of Zayd ibn Thabit (RA) from the Prophet (SAW)
Hadith 938:14
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, Abu Sinan Sa'id ibn Sinan narrated to us, Wahb ibn Khalid narrated to us, from Ibn al-Daylami, who said: I met Ubayy ibn Ka'b and said: "O Abu al-Mundhir, something has occurred in my soul regarding this decree (qadar), so narrate something to me, perhaps it will remove it from my heart." He said: "If Allah were to punish the inhabitants of His heavens and the inhabitants of His earth, He would punish them while not being unjust to them. And if He were to have mercy on them, His mercy for them would be better than their deeds. And if you were to spend the equivalent of Mount Uhud in gold in the path of Allah, Allah would not accept it from you until you believe in the decree, and know that what has befallen you could not have missed you, and what has missed you could not have befallen you. And if you were to die believing otherwise, you would enter the Fire." He said: So I went to Hudhayfah, and he said to me the same as that. And I went to Ibn Mas'ud, and he said to me the same as that. And I went to Zayd ibn Thabit, and he narrated to me from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, the same as that.
