Musnad Ahmad 1018:103

Abu Qatan narrated to us, Yunus narrated to us, from al-Mughirah ibn Abdullah, my father narrated to me, he said: I went out early for a need, and suddenly I was with a group in the market. I inclined toward them, and there was a man speaking to them, describing the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and describing his attributes. He said: So I encountered him on the main road between Arafat and Mina, and he was raised up for me among a caravan, and I recognized him by the description. He said: A man shouted at me, "O rider, move away from the faces of the caravan!" The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Leave the rider, for he has a need." He said: So I came until I took hold of the camel’s rein or its halter, and I said: "O Messenger of Allah, tell me or inform me of a deed that will bring me closer to Paradise and distance me from the Fire." He said: "Is that what you are working for, or what you are exerting yourself for?" He said: I said, "Yes." He said: "Then understand, if you comprehend: Worship Allah, do not associate anything with Him, establish the prayer, give the zakat, fast Ramadan, perform the pilgrimage to the House, and do to the people what you would love to be done to you, and dislike for the people what you dislike to be done to you. Let go of the camel’s rein or its halter." Abu Qatan said: So I said to him, "Did you hear it from him, or did you hear it from al-Mughirah?" He said, "Yes."
