Musnad Ahmad 33:1039

Surayj ibn al-Nu‘man narrated to us, he said: Hushaym narrated to us, Mujalid informed us, from al-Sha‘bi, from Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah, that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab brought a book to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, which he had obtained from some of the People of the Book. He read it to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and he became angry and said: "Are you confused about it, O son of al-Khattab? By the One in Whose hand is my soul, I have brought it to you white and pure. Do not ask them about anything, for they might tell you the truth and you disbelieve it, or they might tell you a falsehood and you believe it. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, if Moses were alive, he would have no choice but to follow me."
