Musnad Ahmad 33:1071

Surayj narrated to us, Muhammad—meaning Ibn Rashid—narrated to us, from Sulayman ibn Musa, from ‘Ata’, from Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah, who said: "We used to obtain, along with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), from our spoils of war from the polytheists, water skins and containers, and he would distribute them, even though they were all dead (i.e., made from the hides of animals not slaughtered according to Islamic law)."
