Musnad Ahmad 33:1075

Aswad ibn Amir narrated to us, Isra'il informed us, from Uthman—meaning Ibn al-Mughirah—from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, used to present himself to the people at the station (of Arafat), saying: "Is there any man who will carry me to his people? For the Quraysh have prevented me from conveying the words of my Lord." A man from Hamdan came to him and he said: "From whom are you?" The man said: "From Hamdan." He said: "Do your people have protection?" He said: "Yes." Then the man feared that his people might betray him, so he came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "I will go to them and inform them, then I will come to you next year." He said: "Yes." So he departed, and the delegation of the Ansar came in Rajab.
