Musnad Ahmad 33:1080

An-Nadr ibn Isma'il al-Qass, who is Abu al-Mughirah, narrated to us, Ibn Abi Layla narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Let not any one of you die except while he thinks well of Allah; for a people have been ruined by their thinking ill of Allah." Then Allah said: {And that was your thought which you thought about your Lord, it has brought you to destruction; and you have become of those utterly lost} [Fussilat: 23].
