Abu Sa'd al-Saghani Muhammad ibn Maysar narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, from 'Ata' and Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade *al-muhaqalah* (selling grain in the ear for harvested grain), *al-muzabanah* (selling fruit on the tree for harvested fruit), *al-mukhabarah* (sharecropping), and that fruit be sold until it is edible, except for dinars or dirhams, except for *al-'araya* (the gifting of fruit on a tree to someone in need)."
