Musnad Ahmad 33:1170

'Affan narrated to us, Mubarak narrated to us, Nasr ibn Rashid narrated to me, from the one who narrated to him, from Jabir ibn 'Abdullah al-Ansari, who said: A man from Banu 'Udhra died during the time of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he was buried at night. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade that a man be buried at night until he is prayed over, unless they are compelled to do so.
