Musnad Ahmad 33:1171

Ali ibn Abdullah narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Mujalid, from al-Sha’bi, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I saw as if I were brought a lump of dates, so I chewed them in my mouth, and I found in it a date stone that hurt me, so I spat it out. Then I took another and chewed it, and I found in it a date stone, so I spat it out. Then I took another and chewed it, and I found in it a date stone, so I spat it out." Abu Bakr said: "Let me interpret it." He (the Prophet) said: "Interpret it." He said: "It is your army that you sent; they will be safe and gain spoils. Then they will meet a man, and he will appeal to your covenant, so they will spare him. Then they will meet a man, and he will appeal to your covenant, so they will spare him. Then they will meet a man, and he will appeal to your covenant, so they will spare him." He (the Prophet) said: "The angel said likewise."
