'Affan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salamah, from Jabir, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) decreed the right of pre-emption (*shuf'ah*) in everything that has not been divided. But when the boundaries have been set and the paths have been laid out, then there is no pre-emption."
