Musnad Ahmad 33:1173

'Abd al-Razzaq and Muhammad ibn Bakr narrated to us, they said: Ibn Jurayj informed us, Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri informed me, regarding the hadith of Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf, from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ansari, who informed him: "That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) decreed: 'Any man who grants a life-tenure (*'umra*) to another for himself and his descendants, and says: "I have given it to you and your descendants as long as one of you remains," then it belongs'—Abu Bakr said—'to the one to whom it was given.' 'Abd al-Razzaq said: 'To the one to whom it was given.' And it does not return to its owner, because he gave it as a gift in which the laws of inheritance have taken effect."
