Musnad Ahmad 33:126

Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Malik, from 'Ata', from Jabir, who said: We arrived with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) four days into Dhu al-Hijjah, and we were in the state of ihram for Hajj. He commanded us to make it an 'Umrah, and our chests felt constricted by that, and it was difficult for us. That reached him, so he said: "O people, exit the state of ihram. Were it not for the sacrificial animal (hady) that is with me, I would have done as you are doing." So we did so—we had relations with women—as one who is not in ihram does, until it was the evening of the Day of Tarwiyah—or the Day of Tarwiyah—we left Makkah behind us and entered into the state of ihram for Hajj.
