Musnad Ahmad 33:159

'Abbad ibn 'Abbad al-Muhallabi narrated to us, from Hisham ibn 'Urwah, from Wahb ibn Kaysan, from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever revives dead land, then for him is a reward from it—meaning a recompense—and whatever the wild animals eat from it, it is for him as charity."
