'Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi narrated to us, Habib—meaning al-Mu'allim—narrated to us, from 'Ata', who said: Jabir narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and his companions entered into the state of ihram for Hajj, and none of them had a sacrificial animal (hady) with them on that day except for the Prophet (ﷺ) and Talhah. 'Ali had arrived from Yemen and he had the sacrificial animal with him, so he said: "I have entered into the state of ihram for that which the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has entered into the state of ihram." The Prophet (ﷺ) commanded his companions to make it an 'Umrah, to perform Tawaf, then to shorten their hair and exit the state of ihram, except for those who had the sacrificial animal with them. They said: "We are setting out to Mina, and one of us is dripping (semen/fluid)." This reached the Prophet (ﷺ), so he said: "If I had known in the beginning what I know now, I would not have brought the sacrificial animal, and were it not that I have the sacrificial animal with me, I would have exited the state of ihram." 'Aishah menstruated, so she performed all the rites except that she did not perform Tawaf around the House. When she became pure, she performed Tawaf. She said: "O Messenger of Allah, will you depart with Hajj and 'Umrah, while I depart with Hajj?" So he commanded 'Abd al-Rahman to go out with her to al-Tan'im, and she performed 'Umrah after the Hajj in Dhu al-Hijjah. Suraqah ibn Malik ibn Ju'sham met the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) at al-'Aqabah while he was stoning it, and he said: "Is this for us exclusively, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "No, rather it is forever."
