Musnad Ahmad 33:171

Muhammad ibn Abi Adi narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq—and Yazid said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq informed us, the meaning—from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Ata ibn Yasar, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said—Yazid said in his narration: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say—: "When you hear the barking of dogs and the braying of donkeys at night, seek refuge in Allah, for they see what you do not see. Reduce your going out when the footsteps have quieted, for Allah spreads out of His creation at night whatever He wills. Shut the doors and mention the name of Allah upon them, for the devil does not open a door that has been shut and upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned. Tie the water skins, cover the jars, and turn over the vessels." Yazid said: And tie the leather water bags.
