Musnad Ahmad 33:189

Sufyan narrated to us, he said: Ibn al-Munkadir heard Jabir saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If the wealth of Bahrain were to come, I would have given you thus, and thus, and thus." He said: When the wealth of Bahrain came after the death of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Abu Bakr said: "Whoever had a debt or a promise from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), let him come to us." He said: So I came, and I said: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'If the wealth of Bahrain were to come, I would have given you thus, and thus, and thus'"—three times. He said: "Then take." He said: So I took—some of those who heard it said: "I found it to be five hundred"—so I took it. Then I came to him, and he did not give me. Then I came to him, and he did not give me. Then I came to him a third time, and he did not give me. So I said: "Either you give me, or you are being stingy with me." He said: "You say you are being stingy with me? And what disease is more severe than stinginess? I have not asked you for a time except that I intended to give you."
