Sufyan narrated to us, from ‘Amr: They mentioned a man who enters into the state of Ihram for ‘Umrah and then exits it; is it permissible for him to have intercourse before he performs Tawaf between al-Safa and al-Marwah? I asked Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah, and he said: "No, not until he performs Tawaf between al-Safa and al-Marwah." I asked Ibn ‘Umar, and he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived and performed Tawaf around the House seven times, prayed two rak'ahs behind the Maqam (Station of Ibrahim), and performed Sa'i between al-Safa and al-Marwah." Then he said: "{There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern} [Al-Ahzab: 21]."
