Musnad Jabir ibn Abdullah (RA)

Hadith 33:244

Jarir narrated to us, from Mughirah, from al-Sha’bi, from Jabir, who said: Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Haram—meaning his father—died, or was martyred, and he had a debt. I sought the help of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) regarding his creditors, that they might waive some of his debt. He requested them to do so, but they refused. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: "Go and sort your dates into varieties: the Ajwa separately, and the ‘Adhq Zayd separately, and their other varieties, then send for me." He said: So I did. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came and sat on top of it, or in the middle of it, and said: "Measure out for the people." He said: So I measured out for the people until I had paid them in full, and my dates remained as if nothing had been diminished from them.
