Musnad Ahmad 33:252

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, Al-A'mash narrated to us, from Abu Salih, from Jabir, who said: We were with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and he asked for water. A man said: "Shall I not give you nabidh (a drink made from soaked dates or raisins) to drink?" He said: "Yes." He said: The man went out running. He said: Then he came with a vessel containing nabidh. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Could you not have covered it, even if by placing a stick across it?" He said: Then he drank.
