Musnad Ahmad 33:262

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, Al-A'mash narrated to us, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, Iblis places his throne upon the water, then he sends out his detachments. The closest of them to him in status is the greatest of them in temptation. One of them comes and says: 'I did such and such.' He says: 'You have done nothing.' He said: Then one of them comes and says: 'I did not leave him until I separated between him and his wife.' He said: So he brings him close to him—or he said: He embraces him—and says: 'Yes, you are the one, you are the one.'" Abu Mu'awiyah said once: "He brings him close to him."
