Musnad Ahmad 33:291

Isma'il—who is Ibn 'Ulayyah—narrated to us, from al-Jariri, from Abu Nadrah, who said: We were with Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah. He said: "It is imminent that the people of Iraq will not have a *qafiz* (a measure of grain) nor a dirham brought to them." We said: "From where is that?" He said: "From the side of the non-Arabs (al-'Ajam); they will prevent that." Then he said: "It is imminent that the people of al-Sham will not have a dinar nor a *mudd* (a measure of grain) brought to them." We said: "From where is that?" He said: "From the side of the Romans (al-Rum); they will prevent that." He said: Then he remained silent for a short while, then he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There will be in the final part of my nation a Caliph who will scoop up wealth in handfuls, and will not count it by number." Al-Jariri said: So I said to Abu Nadrah and Abu al-'Ala': "Do you both see that he is 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz?" They both said: "No."
