Musnad Ahmad 33:357

Hajjaj narrated to us, Laith narrated to us, Yazid ibn Abi Habib narrated to me, that he said: Ata ibn Abi Rabah said: I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah while he was in Makkah, and he was saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said in the year of the Conquest: "Indeed, Allah and His Messenger have prohibited the sale of wine, carrion, swine, and idols." It was said to him at that time: O Messenger of Allah, what about the fat of carrion? For ships are greased with it, skins are greased with it, and people use it for lighting. He said: "No, it is haram." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said at that time: "May Allah fight the Jews; for when Allah prohibited the fat for them, they melted it down, then sold it, and consumed its price."
