Musnad Ahmad 33:379

Isma'il ibn Aban Abu Ishaq narrated to us, Ya'qub narrated to us, from 'Isa ibn Jariyah, from Jabir al-Ansari, who said: "The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded that all the dogs of Medina be killed. Then Ibn Umm Maktum came and said: 'My house is far, and I have a dog.' So he granted him a concession for a few days, then he commanded that his dog be killed."
