Musnad Ahmad 33:4

Yahya ibn Hammad narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from al-Aswad ibn Qays, from Nabih al-'Anazi, that Jabir ibn 'Abdullah said: We went on a military expedition—or we traveled—with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and we were on that day a little over two hundred. The time for prayer arrived, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Is there any water among the people?" A man came running with a small water skin in which there was a little water. He said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, poured it into a cup. He said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, performed ablution and performed the ablution well. Then he turned away and left the cup. The people rushed to the cup, wiping themselves [with the water], and wiping themselves. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Take it easy," when he heard them saying that. He said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, placed his palm into the water and the cup, then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "In the name of Allah." Then he said: "Perform the ablution thoroughly." By the One who tested me with my eyesight, I saw the springs—the springs of water—on that day coming out from between the fingers of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He did not lift them until they had all performed ablution.
